Saturday, June 7

Admit it. You’ve always wondered what happens after you flush. Here is your chance to find out. The Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District takes a lot of crap from us—roughly 245 million gallons a day. Come see how they recycle it into water that is cleaner than the Cuyahoga River and Lake Erie where it is discharged. We will tour the Southerly Waste Water Treatment Plant at 6000 Canal Road in Cuyahoga Heights (not Cuyahoga Falls—that’s a long way in another direction). The plant is visible from I-77 just north of I-480 and from the northern part of the Canal Towpath Trail. After thoroughly washing our hands, we will follow the tour with a Dutch-treat lunch at a restaurant in the valley area.
A photo ID is required, and any children must be supervised by an adult. There is no charge for the tour, which is limited to the first 25 people to sign up.
